Mantras and Mindfulness Kids Yoga Lesson Plan

This lesson would work well with children tree pose benefitsages 5-11 and incorporates The Kids Yoga  Challenge Pose Cards.

First, brainstorm with the students about positive qualities that they see in themselves. For example being kind, honest, hardworking, caring, strong, etc. Write these qualities on the board.

Next, the students took the “hand template” and wrote qualities that described themselves. They did this by writing around the hand template. mantras for kids

Finally, the students were able to put the yoga poses and mantras for success together to practice and perform. This absolutely made the lesson even more memorable as it ties together so many different types of student learning such as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning. happy poses

4 Ways To Be a Writer and Have Some Yoga Fun

What a fun opportunity speaking with the students of Paton Churdan Community Schools about being a writer and an an author. It was lots of fun. We talked about getting story ideas, how to write, and what they can do to share and publish their work. Of course, we did a little yoga too! Check out our Mannequin Challenge here and other yoga pictures for kids. These kids nailed it!

These Kindergarten through 5th grade students love books and ready to hear about what to do with their own story ideas.


Beginning with a few Sun Salutations with the junior high students before jumping into our Choose Your Pose yoga game.


How to Be a Writer presentation, Choose Your Pose games and book signing. Our time went by so fast. We will need to do it again!
